At St. Joseph Church, the Sacrament of Confirmation is conferred on 9th Graders in November of each year. The 8th Grade year is a time of immediate preparation, with classes on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month from 7-8:30pm, September through April. The candidates also take part in a half-day retreat and prayer services in the fall prior to receving the sacrament.
As fully initiated members of the Church, the young people will be called upon to share their gifts and talents to help others and lift up "the Body of Christ." So service is an important component of Confirmation Prep. Candidates are expected to perform 25 hours of service during their preparation that includes participating in several class service projects over the course of the year.
