Dear Parishioners,
Today, Sunday July 4, we’re remembering when Thomas Jefferson and the members of Congress signed the Declaration of Independence. On the Fourth of July, we’re celebrating our Nation’s Independence.
In the Gospel today, Jesus is speaking to the people in the Temple but they’re not accepting Him. They refuse to accept Jesus’s authority and wisdom because they know Him from their hometown. The Son of God is present to them but they reject Him.
As we celebrate of July and begin to enjoy the summer, let's remember to keep God present. By recognizing the Lord in others, we enable others to recognize the Lord in us. This is how we build our relationship with Jesus and with one another. This is how we keep God present in our lives.
