Dear Parishioners,

T.G.I.F to T.G.I.S.

T.G.I.F. — “Thank God, It’s Friday!”  Students love Friday.  Workers love Friday. Who wouldn’t love Friday? If you have a tough time at work, Friday is a great day, not for and in itself, but because of what happens after Friday . . . because you see a light at the end of the tunnel. (You can only hope they’re not train headlights!)  It tells you that whatever you’re going through is not forever.

Friday is thanked about, not for itself, but in view of Sunday or the weekend to say the least.  Good Friday is good in view of the resurrection, that is, Sunday. So, there are two kinds of thinking: there’s Friday thinking and there’s Sunday thinking. The first focuses on the problem while the latter thinks about the purpose. Someone made a good suggestion: “Even  if you’re still in your Friday, fix your eyes on Sunday. Sunday is coming. And that would help you through   the day.”

The same thing happens in our lives. Perhaps we’re going through some challenges.  Or grieving for a loss of someone or something, like a job or a relationship.  Perhaps we are facing a seemingly insurmountable problem.  But Easter says, all these are temporary. It might be Friday today but Sunday is coming . . . And indeed it has come.  T.G.I.S. - Thank God It’s Sunday!

A Blessed Easter to you, our dear Parishioners!

Sincerely in Christ,

Father Lito
