Dear Parishioners,

On this day that is so special, I'd like to share a story that somebody posted on Facebook.  It was a conversation between a child yet to be born and God:

The baby asked God, “I heard you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?”

God said, “Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you.”

“Who will protect me when am there?” God said, “Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life.”

“But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore.” God said, “Your angel will always talk to you about Me and  will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you.”

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, “God, if I am to leave now, please tell me what is this angel's name?"

God said, “You will simply call her, ‘Mom’.”

This is every mother . . . her vocation is love, and life. The love of a mother for her children is so deep, and so beautiful, and so close to God, that we do not understand it.

We say many things about it — the love of a mother.  But we do not understand it . . . God is love.  And God is life.  We do not know what that means either . . . But whatever it is, it is very important.

The child needs his mother.  The mother feels, in the marrow of her bones, in her blood stream, that she must be needed!  Someone must need her!  Her child needs her . . . And she needs her child . . . And this is love.

It is a two-way-street . . . It is a mystery . . . It is the love of God, living among us . . . God is love . . . And God is in every mother . . . Happy Mother’s Day!

Sincerely in Christ,
