Dear Parishioners,

During COVID, I said in my homily that Ascension is the day Jesus officially started working from home. That He is going back home to the Father. But the work continues, as expressed in His words in the Gospel this Sunday: “that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins, would be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.” (Luke 24:47)

The Work continues . . . through us . . . He gave us the mission  . . .through the Church . . . through the Spirit.

St. Teresa of Avila said,  “Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion into this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body. Christ has no body now on earth but yours.”

After the breakdown that happened, we saw that it led to a breakthrough. Sometimes, a breakdown is needed for a breakthrough. Sometimes it takes an overwhelming breakdown to have an amazing breakthrough.

From the breakdown of the Passion and the death of Jesus emerged the beautiful realities of the Ascension, Pentecost and the Mission of the Church.

Sincerely in Christ,
