Dear Parishioners,

Fired up and Ready

The Feast of Pentecost and the gift of the Holy Spirit are living proof of the saying “The Lord will provide.” The Father in heaven knew exactly what the disciples were going to need to be true followers of Jesus. Shortly after Jesus ascended to the Father, He gave the apostles a sign that He will always be with them.  He gave them the Holy Spirit.

In Biblical terms, the word “spirit” has been defined as “the part of man that connects and communicates with God.” It has also been said that, “the joy, comfort and peace of God’s presence can only be experienced through our spirit.”

The Holy Spirit lives on in us and continues to strengthen us even when our physical strength leaves us. That is an amazing gift and the manner in which God gave this amazing gift to His disciples is equally amazing.

In a most dramatic way, through the howling of the wind, the Holy Spirt entered the room where the disciples were meeting. The Spirit came to rest on each of them and imparted an energy that cannot be quantified. In response, they began speaking in different languages, but they could all understand what each one was saying.  How could that be? It was the unifying power of the Spirit that allowed them to communicate.

The Holy Spirit is the common element in all of us. Created by God, taught by the Son and strengthened by the Holy Spirit -- it was the unfolding of the greatest mystery of all time. The Lord does provide!

Sincerely in Christ,
