THE PERFECT PLAN
The unconditional love that God the Father has for all of us is, without question, hard to understand. If we just look at the track record of the human race, we see that all throughout the Old Testament, people continually moved away from God, yet God gave His people countless opportunities to return to Him. He forgave them fully even when they strayed very far from His love. He sent many prophets to tell the people of His love, but so many people still turned their backs on Him. But instead of turning His back on us, God kept trying to win us back.
He created a salvation plan that was built upon His love. He allowed part of Himself to become part of humanity by giving us His only Son. That alone provides the best definition of unconditional love. God did this so willingly for ALL people even though we did not deserve it. He wants to be united with us so badly, He was willing to share in the sufferings that sin causes by taking those sins unto Himself and dying for us. And to ensure we had everything we would need to walk the path to heaven, God gave us a third part of Himself — the Holy Spirit — a spirit to live within us and give us comfort, discernment and peace.
The more you think about it, the more you realize that the three persons of the Trinity are really three ways that God manifested His love for us. It is one of the greatest mysteries of our faith, and it is also one of the greatest gifts.
